Dr. JIMOH, Haruna Olayiwola
Personal Statement
Dr. Haruna O. Jimoh is an Urban and Regional Planning scholar and Lecturer in Urban Planning at the University of Lagos. He is also a Cluster Member of Urbanization and Population Dynamics at the University’s Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development, contributing to interdisciplinary research on sustainable urban transformation in developing contexts.
He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Federal University of Technology Akure, and a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Ibadan. Expanding his expertise in spatial analytics, he obtained an additional Master’s degree in Geographical Information Science from Lund University. He was a Fellow of the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Cohort, reflecting his engagement with climate-focused urban research.
His teaching and research interests span environmental planning and management, natural resource governance, tourism development, spatial analysis, and sustainable urban design. He has published in reputable local and international peer-reviewed journals, contributing to scholarship of urban growth, population dynamics, and environmental sustainability.
Professionally, Dr. Jimoh is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners and a registered practitioner with the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria, underscoring his strong commitment to both academic excellence and professional practice.
