Prof. AMEH, Oko John
Personal Statement
I am a professor of Building with specialization in sustainable construction technology, and construction management. I have a strong passion for “waste-to-materials” innovation in sustainable construction, including research on bamboo as an alternative to wood; lateritic sand, and periwinkle as an alternative to aggregate, recycling plastics waste to sustainable building blocks, among others. I am currently investigating seaweed as sustainable cementitious material and recycled sawdust for sustainable building products. My ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable housing in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability, using locally sourced materials. My research work also focuses on organizational behaviour and human resource management in the construction industry.
