Prof. DADA, Martins Oloruntobi
Personal Statement
I am a consumate academic who works from first principles, having a rich mix of research and industry experience and committed to developing confident and competent at the national and international levels for the betterment of society and improvement of human development indices. I have more than thirty five years post-graduation experience in industry having managed the construction of many high profile institutional and industrial building projects in Nigeria. I was a member of the Governing Board of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) between 2008 and 2017 where I rose to become its Vice-Chairman in 2013.
I engage in research and advocacy to promote best practices in procurement in the built environment. I am actuated by a desire to help in the evolution of a better society for all; my research and industry practices are directed towards capacity building and the promotion of best practices and competitiveness in the construction industry. I initiated the institutional membership of University of Lagos in the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) in 2006.
I also engage in international teaching collaboration involving universities in the United States, China and Thailand. I currently head the Department of Building of the University of Lagos and equally lead the Digital Built Envirnment Cluster of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence on Urbanisation and Habitable Cities. My current reserch interests include construction procurement, digitalisation of built environment practices and processes, teambuilding and stakeholder management.
